Defending champions Australia is dominating the 1st innings against Ireland at The Gabba Brisbane on October 31, 2022. After Ireland invited Australia to opt to bat first, the host suffered an early blow in the form of David Warner's dismissal, but skipper Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh didn't let that affect the morale of the team. Both the top-order batters stitched 52-runs for the second wicket until Marsh got dismissed by Barry McCarthy in the 9th over.

After Glen Maxwell's short stint in the middle, Marcus Stoinis continued his top form as he is currently playing yet another instrumental innings with the Australian skipper Aaron Finch. While the rest of the Ireland bowlers were being smashed all around the park, Barry McCarthy is emerging as only the hope for the Irish team.

After providing two early breakthroughs in the game, the 30-year-old right-arm medium pacer made an entry to the best fielding efforts in the ongoing edition of the ICC tournament with his super-human effort at long-on, saving crucial four runs for the team.

It all happened in the 15th over of the match when Mark Adair bowled a slower outside off delivery which Stoinis lofted over long-on, as it appeared six for most, McCarthy leaps backward airborne and caught it in his left hand and threw it back after soon realizing that he would land on the boundary cushions.

McCarthy's superhuman caught the attention of everyone in the stadium as even Mathew Wade sitting in the Australian dugout applauded the effort of the Irish pacer.
